I grew up with a wood-burning stove. It was a relic from the 19th century (maybe earlier!). It cooked meals, baked cakes and heated the house. Wood was plentiful because we lived at the edge of a forest. My brothers were wood choppers.

Just a little trip down memory lane, memories you evoked with your post. I'm sure the new residents of that old house chucked the stove for something more modern, but it certainly did serve us well. Life wasn't easy, but we were energy independent 😄
