[WE103] Weekend-Engagement: My Lucky Life

Have you ever counted yourself as lucky? Write about a time or event in your life in which you felt luck or happenstance played a part in bringing an advantageous result. What was the situation and result and why do you see luck as instrumental in it?

Wow, it's nice to be a part of this weekend challenge. This topic brought back memories of things that have happened in my life which made me feel lucky to have heard about such an experience.

I will be sharing one of those experiences that made me believe I was lucky to have such a great outcome.

Flashback to 2019, After my NYSC, I put in for a postgraduate program at one of the prestigious universities in Nigeria.

A few months after purchasing the postgraduate form, All applicants were called to come and write the English proficiency test, which I also did.

Shortly, After writing the English proficiency test an announcement was made that all those who applied to the department I applied to should wait for a departmental exam immediately.

Hearing this, I was quite scared. I did not prepare for a departmental exam, I only prepared for the English proficiency test. Series of questions kept rolling through my mind, but I later summoned courage.

The exam was an hour-long exam. The questions are not straightforward questions and the instructions was that you must be sure before you pick any answer. If you guess and you get it wrong, there is negative marking where marks will be reduced if you get an answer wrong.

After the exam, I was scared. I left so many questions unanswered because I was scared of negative marking. When my friends were asking me how the exam was, I just smiled sheepishly knowing that I didn't answer all the questions. I quickly left the exam venue to avoid any further questions.

After two months, The applicants who passed the departmental were called upon for an oral interview.

I saw a lot of my friends jubilating because they were called. I was not happy because I was not called. I was so depressed and restless.

During this process, the only word I could say was "God have your way".

Shortly after this, a song came to my mind and this song was so consoling. I was eased from all my worries and anxiety.

The song goes thus:

You are always there to help
You are always there to help me
Even when no one wasp there
You are always there for me.
Even when I can't see you.
Even when I can not trace you.
I still have faith in your word that you are always there for me.

I kept on singing this song to God. Just after a few days. A friend of mine called me and said my name was called at the department and I was among those who passed the exam. I was so excited.

Indeed, I was lucky. What if my friend was not in the department? That's how I will have thought I failed. I was so lucky that God came through me in my hopeless situation.

Thanks for reading......

Dear @adedoyin-g, we need your help!

The Hivebuzz proposal already got important support from the community. However, it lost its funding a few days ago and only needs a few more HP to get funded again.

May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work this year?
You can do it on Peakd, ecency, Hive.blog or using HiveSigner.

Your support would be really helpful and you could make a difference.
Thank you!
