My precious pot of stew

Undergraduate days are always fun. I remember every first week of resumption is always a moment of enjoyment where students resumes back to school looking fresh, having enough money, food stuffs and provisions.

Those moments are my excited moment, where i eat and cook anything i like.

And at the end of the semester, Those joyful moment will have turn soar as a result of school stress. At that time, things will have got exhausted including foodstuff, money and provisions.

This was exactly my experience on this faithful day. I woke up seriously hungry. I went to the kitchen to check if i could find something to eat, but i couldn't find anything, all the food containers are empty.

I went back to my bed thinking of what to do. Just few minutes of lying down, I started perceiving a sweet aroma of jollof rice.

Instantly, I stood up to be sure of where the aroma was coming from. Guess, what ? The sweet aroma of jollof rice was coming from my neighbour's kitchen.

The aroma saturate the whole room as if i was the one cooking. I went back to my bed thinking 🤔. Why is my neighbour doing this to me for God sake. I tried to sleep but the aroma of the food kept increasing the hunger in me. I kept on salivating to the extent that saliva kept dripping out of my mouth.

I thought to myself, To avoid this intimidation i think i need to step of the my room and go to school.

So i went straight to the bathroom to take my bath and shortly, I dressed up for school.

On my way to school, I met some of my friends on the way. They were greeting me but i couldn't respond well. I was looking like someone who has not eaten for days.

As soon as i get to school, I sat down quitely. At least I'm free from this intimidation. Now I can enjoy fresh and cool breeze.

Not quite long, I received a call from my aunt, who asked me to send my account number that she want to send me money.

I couldn't wait for her to finish talking before i started showering her loads of prayers. Before, you know it I received an alert of $15. My contenance changed instantly. I started laughing out so loud to the extent that people started looking at me strangely and wondering why i was laughing out loud.

I quickly re-package and adjust myself so that people won't be assuming that something is wrong with me.

Shortly after the class, I went straight to the market to buy food stuff and ingredients in making stew. Shortly after buying them. I went straight to the house.

On my way home, I was singing and smiling at every one i met on my way. As soon as i get home. I went straight to the kitchen to start cooking.

I try using my gas cooker but i discover that the gas cylinder was empty, so I decided to use coal pot.

The coal pot is an old one, it has almost wear out. But I decided to use stone to support the coal pot, so that the pot can balance on the coal pot while cooking.

After i have set the coal pot for use, i boil the meat and started cooking the stew. The aroma of the stew as saturated the whole atmosphere. Chai, I was happy, my mouth was salivating. I could hear my neighbour talking to her sister about the aroma of my stew. I was so happy. I said to myself, This is my time to shine.Lol😂

I added other ingredients to the stew and check the taste of the stew. Kai, it was so delicious 😋😋 , infact the word delicious is an understatement.

The stew remain few minutes to get ready. I joyfully enter my room to get some serving plate.

As i was about getting a plate from the plate rack, I heard a sound from the kitchen, "pua pua" it sounds like something fell. My heart skip for a seconds. What could that be? I ran to the kitchen like someone being chased.

On getting to kitchen, I receive the shock of my life. The stone that I use to balance the coal pot has fell off, which allow my precious pot of stew to feel off from the coal pot.

Oh My God, I could not hold myself, I was vibrating on the same spot. I went to see if i could pack some, but i couldn't because it has mixed with sand. That's how i ended up fasting for the whole day. Lol 😂
