Good day everyone, welcome to my blog. This morning I carried out my cleaning activities in my vicinity.

The place was littered with polyethene, plastics, papers etc. People living around my vicinity live a carefree life when it has to do with refuse disposal. They throw away refuse indiscriminately. This has been bothering my mind, anytime I see Refuse littered everywhere.

Government has also refused to provide dustbin at strategic places for the people. Waste management has been very poor in my locality.This has caused a lot of people to constantly visit the hospital to treat diseases such as malaria, typhoid, guinea worm etc.

These wastes block the waterways in the vicinity, thereby causing flooding and erosion.Gutters which are meant for disposal of liquid wastes are now used for dumping of all kinds of solid wastes.

Last year a lot of people had to abandon their homes due to flooding.I collected some of these wastes, which were littered around the open field and put them in a refuse sack and disposed of them properly.

But even with the stress I went through getting the place tidy, I am not bothered as long as the environment is free from diseases and safe for us all. This makes me to be more happy and fulfilled because health they say is wealth.

Let's continue to make our environment safe and clean.
