George the Turtle - Monomad Challenge

Hello lovely Hiveans !

Today I came along the #monomad challenge that is hosted by the Black And White Community .. I once viewed at my the image of my little turtle friend George in monochrome colors and remembered that I really loved how it looked, so I choose him as a motive for my entry .. I hope you like him to in monochrome ^^

George is a Chinese Pond Turtle (Mauremys Reeversii) and has this nice dome-shaped shell, which I found so appealing in monochrome as it looks quite worn out this way. This shell shape and his webbed limbs and long claws identify him as terrestrial tortoise. As such, he lives at a nice little pond where he most of the time enjoys to relax on his rock, a beautiful place for a nice picture ;)

He actually is so relaxed that he sits there very patiently and even establishes long and direct eye contact :) .. I found that his eyes are very hypnotizing and they look so amazing in monochrome, especially in combination with his overall pattern at his head and whole body in general. These constant contrast of black and white seem so fitting an suiting and predestined for a monochrome picture ^^

I hope that you like George in monochrome as much as I do and enjoyed these portrait pictures of him. I am actually such a big fan of this lovely little fellow that I made him the mascot of the Amazing Nature Community ^^

The really nice feature of black and white is that, without colour, it really brings out the texture and designs of the subject at hand; George's shell markings look superb!

I probably will discover black and white photography more thoroughly from now on .. I really love how it brings out these structures and textures @wwwiebe ^^ .. regarding this pictures I was actually really struggling which one to choose as my title one .. On one hand I love the colour contrast on the head so much, especially the outstanding eyes, but the shell is soo awesome too in monochrome ;) .. both together shows so many various effects and are even in a contrast to each other too .. so I decided for that one .. In the future I will consider all my photo motives from a different point of view too .. structure and textures, hehe .. thank you for the visit of my post about the monochrome George ^^

Hehe knew it! Here in Portugal there is a species called "cagados" if I'm not mistaken they are of the quelonian order, they are autochthonous species, but like all species of turtles like George they are super "killer" people bought them and when they were already very Big ones he released them in the lake, rivers, because they could reach 30cm! So ecological impact studies had already been carried out and when people introduced chelonians in areas where they are not common, they extinguished everything that lived in the water, so what happened? "Cagados or Quelonios" forbidden to be sold in pet stores, now only Mauremys, Almiscar is sold! But I am sure they must cause the same impact if they are released in the wild! So don't let George xD get away
