Happy #caturday for all cat lovers, today is the perfect day to make a publication about cats or anything related to them, lately, I have been sharing about various pathologies and mischief of my kittens, this made me resort to medicines and supplies that I never lack at home and I thought it was pertinent to mention that it is important to have some medicines and medical equipment that can not miss at home for us and for our animals.

The first thing I want to point out and clarify is that what I will show and point out in this publication is what I usually have at home for the day to day that I live with my cats, that is, it is based on my personal experience, maybe your dogs or cats are super healthy and what a wonder and blessing this is, but in my case I have some with pathologies and for that reason I prefer to have some medicines at home because some pathologies are recurrent and sometimes to save money I have the medication at home and I save myself from being charged for the dose at the veterinary clinic because I take the medicine and the injectors.

So, in the box you see there are things that I do not use much, because they were used occasionally and were left there, or they were given to me as a gift, but there are others that can not miss, among them antibiotics specifically enrofloxacin, either in suspension or in ampoule to be injected, I also usually have ciprofloxacin, doxycycline and ampicillin sulbactam, these first four as antibiotics, since each one is used in situations or with specific pathologies, dexamethasone and prednisone, which are usually prescribed to reduce inflammation, these two drugs are of delicate use and must be administered under strict veterinary supervision and following the indications to the letter. Something that I do not miss at home for Señor Gato's urinary problem is vitamin C in suspension, since it is his treatment for life, a month yes a month of rest.

Now, for pain they usually prescribe Doloxicam or Metadol, I never miss dewormer in suspension and I usually reinforce it with some presentation in tablets, since some dewormers do not eliminate some parasites and the organism of our kittens and the parasites usually become resistant, when the same one is used for a long time.

I don't miss either colorió, specifically Tobrasol, since the coloríos with steroids can worsen the ocular lesions in cats, I don't know its effect in dogs, so there is no lack of artificial tears, another thing that is always in that little box of medicines are healing creams and for infections with fungi, such as Lavesana and Pediderm, also healing powders as Madecassol and / or Protosulfil.

Something you should also have at home is alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, gauze, 1 ml or insulin injectors, Gerdex and Peridont are all useful to make cures and Peridont is used to clean cats or dogs with oral conditions such as gingivitis, for the latter will require swabs.

Now why is it useful to have these things or some others at home? If you have several pets, as is my case and several have the same or similar conditions, you will have medication for each occasion as I had for the three treatments of Pocholo, Rusa and Señor Gato, the first two with gingivitis and Señor Gato with cystitis and being recurrent pathologies, I will always have at home the necessary medication to assist them and if they have not changed in terms of weight, I can start the treatment protocol without having to go to the vet unless it is considered necessary to do some tests, such as hematology, blood chemistry, echo, which in some cases it is wise to perform them at least once a year.

Thank you for reading.png

In summary it is prudent and useful, to have at home medicines and other elements that are useful in first aid, to take care of our pets but I want to emphasize that it is only acceptable to do treatment at home, if we are sure that the treatment will be, the one that will be prescribed for being a recurrent pathology, but the correct thing is to take the dog or cat for a veterinary evaluation and this as a professional will indicate the treatment to follow, since in some cases the animal will have to attend the clinic for a few days for treatment, so I say goodbye hoping that these lines encourage you to have at home some things that will be of regular use if you have a nice pet. Here is a link to a publication that lists a first aid kit for dogs and cats. A hug to all of you and needless to say that you can freely express your impressions in the comments box.
