This #QOTW in the EcoTrain community is very interesting. I didn't participate in the previous week (the one related to miracles), because I didn't have the inspiration to write about it, nor did I remember any anecdote worth bringing to the writing. But this question is very much in line with my thinking, and related to previous weekly questions from the community.

Without a doubt, the world seems to be heading towards an increasingly technological future. Technology has been advancing at an exponential rate for at least 20 years. But we must ask ourselves if the human being, in his essence, is prepared to assume this technological development.

This topic is somewhat related to the humanities, just recently a new community has been founded in #Hive dedicated to the subject, called Humanitas. I invite you to visit it. Spiritually, the human being, in its essence, possesses a consciousness and desires that possibly no machine is capable of matching. Technology tends to go for the defined, fixed, rigid, formulated by equations, while our spirit is unpredictable, spontaneous, and has wishes.

This initiative alluded to the issue of whether we could live in a world with a virtual reality. I believe that as human beings we have desires, and technology has helped us to satisfy our desires. Virtual reality is something that may never be able to match the real world, but I think the most important thing is what happens in our minds.

Depending on technology to satisfy our desires is not a very advantageous situation to say the least. This immediately reminds us of situations like the movie Matrix. If we need technology to maintain a virtual life, we could easily fall into a situation of slavery, or even begin to see technology as a God, which puts our minds on something that does not provide us with adequate moral or spiritual guidance.

I think it all depends on seeing technology as a tool to add value to the world. Everything related to virtual worlds is something that catches my attention, all the potential it has is impressive. We can create virtual cities, live in them, create simulations. Who wouldn't like to witness a simulation of historical events? It would be much better than watching history classes in a classroom.

In my opinion, spirituality and technology can coexist. But it all depends on us. If we manage to be people with solid principles, spiritually strong, I believe that technology will not have negative effects on us and our environment.

My vision regarding science and spirituality is that both are not necessarily in conflict. Simply, both seek to understand and study the same thing but from different perspectives. I think that perhaps, at some point, science and religion or spirituality touch, become one. I don't know if we will ever get there, or if quantum mechanics will have anything to do with it.

Our mind, our consciousness, could be said to be the point where both the material and the spiritual meet. Achieving a balance in our mind is the ideal. The advance of technology seems to be aimed at trying to make machines or artifacts that match human consciousness as closely as possible. But we are conscious beings, and unlike any technological artifact, we have desires of our own.

As human beings, we must be spiritually prepared to deal with the advancement of technology. I believe that science alone will not bring us prosperity if we humans are spiritually poor. And by spirituality I don't just mean following a religion, everyone will have a way to "grow spiritually" in their own way.

What is reality really? Is it what happens in our hearts and minds, or is it what happens in the outside world? Is there really any difference? These questions were asked in the EcoTrain initiative post. I think this question may get into moral issues, but I think there is only one objective reality, and it is up to us how we perceive it in our minds. And part of "spiritual growth" would be to learn to perceive reality from the most effective or objective point of view possible, and not perceive it from our mental limitations or from the ego.

And technology could make us perceive a virtual reality that is not true, but it is up to us to perceive it objectively and control it, not for it to control us. So I think spirituality may become even more important the more technology advances. According to some spiritual and religious currents, our soul is already a slave of the body, so the idea would be that our spirit, consciousness, or mind, dominates over the material, from our own body to everything technological, not the other way around.

Pero esta pregunta va muy acorde con mi pensamiento, y relacionada a preguntas semanales anteriores de la comunidad.

Sin duda, el mundo pareciera dirigirse hacía un futuro cada vez más tecnológico. La tecnología avanza a un ritmo exponencial desde hace al menos 20 años. Pero debemos preguntarnos si el ser humano, en su esencia, está preparado para asumir este desarrollo tecnológico.

Este tema va en cierta manera relacionado con las humanidades, justamente hace poco se ha fundado una nueva comunidad en #Hive dedicada al tema, llamada Humanitas. Te invito a pasar por ella. Espiritualmente, el ser humano, en su esencia, posee una consciencia y deseos que posiblemente ninguna máquina sea capaz de igualar. Si necesitamos de una tecnología para mantener una vida virtual, fácilmente podríamos caer en una situación de esclavitud, o incluso empezaríamos a ver la tecnología como un Dios, lo cual hace poner nuestras mentes en algo que no nos proporciona una guía moral o espiritual adecuada.

Creo que todo depende de que veamos a la tecnología como una herramienta para agregar valor al mundo. Todo lo relacionado a los mundos virtuales es algo que llama mucho mi atención, todo el potencial que tiene es impresionante. Podemos crear ciudades virtuales, vivir en ellas, crear simulaciones ¿A quien no le gustaría presenciar una simulación de eventos históricos? Sería mucho mejor que ver clases de historia en un salón.

En mi opinión, la espiritualidad y la tecnología si pueden convivir. Pero todo depende de nosotros. Si logramos ser personas con principios sólidos, espiritualmente fuertes, creo que la tecnología no tendrá efectos negativos en nosotros y nuestro entorno.

Mi visión respecto a la ciencia y la espiritualidad es que ambas cosas no están necesariamente en conflicto. Simplemente, ambas cosas buscan entender y estudiar lo mismo pero desde diferentes perspectivas. Creo que quizás, en algún punto, la ciencia y la religión o la espiritualidad se tocan, se vuelven una sola cosa. No sé si algún día lograremos llegar allí, o si la mecánica cuántica tendrá algo que ver con ello.

Nuestra mente, nuestra consciencia, podría decirse que es el punto donde ambas cosas se encuentran, lo material y lo espiritual. Lograr un equilibrio en nuestra mente es lo ideal. El avance de la tecnología pareciera encaminarse a tratar de hacer máquinas o artefactos que igualen lo más posible a la consciencia humana. Pero somos seres conscientes, y a diferencia de cualquier artefacto tecnológico, tenemos deseos propios.

Como seres humanos, debemos estar preparados desde el punto de vista espiritual para hacer frente al avance de la tecnología. Pienso que la ciencia por si sola no nos traerá prosperidad si los humanos somos pobres espiritualmente. Y con espiritualidad no me refiero únicamente a seguir una religión, cada quien tendrá la forma de "crecer espiritualmente" a su manera.

¿Qué es realmente la realidad? ¿Es lo que ocurre en nuestros corazones y mentes, o es lo que ocurre en el mundo exterior? ¿Existe realmente alguna diferencia? Estas preguntas se hacían en el post de la iniciativa de EcoTrain. Creo que esta pregunta puede entrar en temas morales, pero pienso que hay una sola realidad objetiva, y depende de nosotros cómo la percibamos en nuestra mente. Y parte del "crecimiento espiritual" sería aprender a percibir la realidad desde el punto de vista más efectivo u objetivo posible, y no percibirla desde nuestras limitantes mentales o desde el ego.

Y la tecnología podría hacernos percibir una realidad virtual que no es verdadera, pero depende de nosotros percibirla objetivamente y controlarla, no que ella nos controle a nosotros. Por ello pienso que la espiritualidad puede volverse incluso más importante mientras mas avance la tecnología. Según algunas corrientes espirituales y religiosas, nuestra alma ya es de por si esclava del cuerpo, por lo que la idea sería que nuestro espíritu, consciencia, o mente, domine sobre lo material, desde nuestro propio cuerpo hasta todo lo tecnológico, no al revés.
