Getting fit with a little help from man's best friend

We were out for another walk first thing this morning and it was great for both of us. Coco gets to sniff her way around her new community and I get to familiarise myself with my new neighbourhood - the houses, the animals, the fields, the animals, the smells. We are meeting all the different dogs along the route, some very friendly and some a bit more territorial.

Here she is having a good auld Springer Spaniel sniff of anything and everything as you can see below!

Toilet training

The regular walks first thing in the morning are a great chance to allow her to do her business outside where she should be doing it and don't worry I always leave the house armed with ample Poo bags to clean up any little presents she leaves along the way!

As soon as I get up, I get Coco ready to go and tie her just outside the back door, while I grab my shoes and jacket, so that she doesn't have an accident. We're ready to go now.

The walk is just shy of 5km that we went on this morning and yesterday's was 7km. She is a really energetic dog and is absolutely loving the walks. It takes around 2km until she stops to have a poo, which I clean up and we're on our way again.

Fitness Gateway

I run for a few little safe stretches of road to allow her to get a proper run out and she especially loves that and is really easy to run with as she sets the pace! There is even a lake along the way where she can cool off with a quick little splash about.

Breathing is a habit. Eating is a habit. You don't have to give either one much thought. Well I've learned over the years that fitness is no different. It is 100% habit. How do we form habits? Well, the one thing which you certainly need is time. Habits are not formed in a day, more typically it will take weeks or even months to form them. The beauty is though that once they are formed, things become easier and you do them by default. Often the hardest thing is forming the habit and sticking with it day after day for a certain amount of time, until it's routine.

That's my plan for my morning walks with Coco. As soon as I wake up, up and out of bed and take her for a walk. It's a win\win. I get my some fitness habits formed, she gets her exercise and hopefully learns to go to the toilet outside.

it is healthy for a dog, and for us, to take a walk every day. I imagine she really enjoys the walks, as do you. Being a new neighborhood, there is a lot to explore, so I imagine Coco exploring everything, with a high level of curiosity.
