I cut Miñe's hair myself || Yo mismo le corté el pelo a Miñe

We have never cut Miñe's hair, but we liked the idea. Well, that day came in a somewhat improvised way, "taking justice into our own hands". I want to tell you about Miñe's first haircut. Please join me.

A few days ago I cut my own hair and left the machine handy, I don't know why. One morning, Miñe was intense in her desire to climb on my lap as I worked at my desk. We know how incisive a cat can be when she wants something. Well, that's how she was. So I said to her, "If you keep insisting I'm going to cut your hair." And when I said it out loud, I thought it was an excellent idea.

So I took the machine, put it together, put the number 2 comb in it, plugged it in, and sat there at my desk and waited. Well, a few minutes later she came again and I let her get on it. We were really wondering if she would let her hair cut because she is very temperamental. So I didn't know how she would react when I turned on the machine near her.

So, I turned on the machine! And she was not fazed. I started clipping a little bit of her hair on her back, above her hind legs, and she was unmoved. Really? Well, I started to pass it again, and again, and again, and again, and she was calm. Well, there I understood that it would be easier than I imagined.

Miñe likes to be combed, so I guess she would think I was combing her hair. I also think she was familiar with the sound of the machine because she hears it every time I turn it on, although not so close to her. But what surprised me the most was that she accepted that feeling of having her hair cut, because when we had tried it with scissors, she wouldn't let it. But this time she relaxed so much that she was lying down while I ran the machine over her.

She has too much hair. So it got to a point where I felt like I wasn't cutting it right. So I changed the comb number, and put in a number 3, and kept cutting. After quite a while, I got tired and she went down too. I went through her normal comb to remove all the hairs that would be stuck to her, and it was a lot! But after seeing what she looked like, I knew I would have to comb her again.

I tell you something funny: when we comb Miñe's hair she is so relaxed that she immediately goes to sleep, and sleeps for several hours. The haircut had a similar effect. She lay there on the floor taking it all in, but then went to sleep for quite a while.

The next day I managed to run the machine over her again and it was a more even cut. There she is. Although her face doesn't look very happy, I like to think she is. 😅

I admit I made a mess with so much hair flying out. Sweeping with a broom would be crazy, so I had to pour water all over the floor so I wouldn't pick up so many hairs and have to do it all over again.

I like the way it turned out. Considering that she is a cat that will be 14 years old this year, I think her fur needs to be taken care of, and maybe by cutting it she can get stronger. Besides, in these hot days she might feel better (even if she doesn't thank us audibly). As for me, new level unlocked: cat groomer. So, for your information, I will start working on Saturdays, I charge in $HBD. 🤑

Nunca le hemos cortado el pelo a Miñe, pero sí nos agradaba la idea. Pues ese día llegó de una forma un tanto improvisada, "tomando la justicia por nuestras propias manos". Quiero contarles sobre el primer corte de pelo de Miñe. Por favor, acompáñame.

Hace unos días yo mismo me corté el cabello y dejé la máquina a la mano, no sé por qué. Una mañana, Miñe estaba intensa en su deseo de subirse a mis piernas mientras trabajaba en mi escritorio. Ya sabemos lo incisivos que llega a ser un gato cuando quiere algo. Pues así estaba ella. Entonces le dije: "Si sigues insistiendo te voy a cortar el pelo". Y cuando lo dije en voz alta, me pareció una excelente idea.

Así que tomé la máquina, la armé, le puse el peine número 2, la conecté a la corriente y esperé allí sentado en mi escritorio. Pues, a los pocos minutos ella vino de nuevo y la dejé subirse. De verdad que teníamos la duda si se dejaría cortar el cabello debido a que ella es muy temperamental. Así que no sabía cómo reaccionaría cuando encendiera la máquina cerca de ella.

Así que, ¡encendí la máquina! Y ella no se perturbó. Empecé a cortarle un poco de su pelo en el lomo, encima de las patas traseras, y ella inmutable. ¿En serio? Pues empecé a pasarla otra vez, y otra vez, y otra vez, y ella tranquila. Pues, allí entendí que sería más sencillo de lo que imaginé.

A Miñe le gusta que la peinemos, así que supongo que ella creería que la estaba peinando. También pienso que estaba familiarizada con el sonido de la máquina porque lo escucha cada vez que yo la enciendo, aunque no tan cerca de ella. Pero lo que más me sorprendió fue que aceptara esa sensación de que se le está cortando el pelo, porque cuando lo habíamos intentado con tijera, no se dejaba. Pero ésta vez se relajó tanto que estaba acostada mientras le pasaba la máquina.

Tiene demasiado pelo. Así que llegó un punto de que sentía que no estaba cortando bien. Así que cambié el número del peine, y coloqué uno número 3 , y seguí cortando. Luego de un buen rato, me cansé y ella también bajó. Le pasé su peine normal para quitarle todos los pelos que le quedarían adheridos, ¡y era un montón! Pero luego de verla cómo quedó, supe que tendría que pasársela otra vez.

Les cuento algo gracioso: cuando peinamos a Miñe ella queda tan relajada que inmediatamente se va a dormir, y duerme por varias horas. El corte de cabello tuvo un efecto similiar. Estuvo por allí acostada en el piso asimilando todo, pero luego se fue a dormir por un buen rato.

Al otro día logré pasarle la máquina de nuevo y quedó un corte más parejo. Allí está. Aunque su rostro no parezca muy contenta, me gusta pensar que sí lo está. 😅

Admito que hice un desastre con tanto pelo que salió volando. Barrer con escoba sería una locura, así que tuve que echarle agua a todo el piso para no levantar tantos pelos y tuviera que repetir la limpieza.

Me gusta cómo quedó. Teniendo en cuenta de que es una gata que éste año cumplirá 14 años, creo que su pelaje hay que cuidarlo, y tal vez cortándoselo pueda tomar más fuerza. Además, en éstos días calurosos tal vez ella se sienta mejor (aunque no nos lo agradezca audiblemente). Por mi parte, ¡nuevo nivel desbloqueado!: peluquero de gatos.
