Where are the missing books? : The 31 Sentence Contest: Round 11

"Boys, open your lockers."

In the past weeks, eight students of Happydale High have been reporting that their books mysteriously disappeared from their lockers.

Teachers, students and parents have been puzzled with this mystery.

"Maybe thieves?"

James suggested during teachers' meeting, picturing little trolls sneaking in.

"But why would anyone want to steal school books when every boy would already have the books that they need for each of their class?"

Ingrid, the quietest teacher in the room suddenly asked, causing every teacher to turn to look at her.

True, every boy in the school have been given the books they need for the year.

Those who are able, bought theirs.

And those not, the school lent them books.

Both the teachers, James and Ingrid were assigned to investigate, to get to the bottom of the mystery, as to how and why the books were disappearing from the boys' lockers.

"Oh my goodness!"

Ingrid could not believe what she saw as one student, who reported that his books were stolen, opened his locker door slowly.

The locker was cramped and stacked with books of all sorts, a bottle of conditioner, an empty bottle of goodness knows what and a packet of oats?!

James who was there too, took a closer look and saw "The Oldest Book in the World".

There was also a "Tai Chi Chuan and i-Ching - A Choreography of Body and Mind" book by Da Liu, leaning dangerously in there.

"This boy has quite an interesting collection of books in there", thought James quietly, wondering how this sixteen year old boy has such deep interest with books like these.

They looked at another locker.

The rest of the boys who reported that their book or books disappeared or stolen also had things stacked up high with all sorts of things.

As they checked each of the locker, one by one, both James and Ingrid have a rough idea now what was going on with the reported lost or stolen books.

It was amazing how many things were stuffed inside each of their lockers.

Ingrid and James told the boys to start cleaning their lockers.

James said "Take out everything from inside your lockers, remove any rubbish you have in there and organize your things boys!"

"Now!"

The boys hurriedly started doing as they were told, each taking their things out.

After about half an hour into "cleaning" and "organizing" their lockers, one boy shouted "Hey! I found my book!"

Then, another five boys shouted one after another that they too found their missing books.

When the whole exercise was completed, the eight boys all found their books, hidden deep underneath within their jam stuffed lockers full of things.

The findings were reported to all teachers.

And then, the students and parents were also informed.

Finally, the mystery was solved with no books were stolen and they were just hidden deep underneath all the mountain of things that were in the boys' lockers.

Yes! Wow. What a story.

You made me laugh again. This story reminds me of a woman comedian who told a joke about men not being able to find the milk because it is behind all the things they don't care to move out of the way. lol

Now you have my interest for the true story if you care to share.

Oh haha.. I remember a joke like that too!
Oh this happened in my nephew's school, 4th graders. A bunch of students reported their books were missing and everyone was puzzled until the teachers checked their lockers. Their books were not missing, they were just drowned underneath A2 or A3 sized art papers and other stuffs. The lockers are not designed to fit the art papers and after their art classes, the boys just chuck them into the locker the best way they could and most times they are crumpled and stuffed on top of the books :D
