My Kid Wants to be ... A Youtuber! š || Mom Life
a 4-year old Youtuber in the making...
Having a 4-year-old in the house for more than 2 days without any activities to do š„² is not fun!
My kid has been sick for over 2 weeks now but got a bit worse the past few days, he has a Respiratory infection, fun stuff, which means he hasnāt been doing his regular routine of going to school and to his swimming practices, all this free time is driving me crazy, he is very attention seeking kid so if he is not doing something he needs me by his side at all times paying attention to him.
Phone, Tablet and Youtube
If you are going to judge me go F&$% yourself =) I do give my kid screen time, when he is in his regular routine he usually has a few hours here and there between his activities to use his phone or tablet. In the special circumstances we are in right now, he has screen time pretty much all the time, and he is sick in bed most of the day what else will he do?
Become a youtuber Duh!
His dad and I were thinking about stuff for him to do other than you know had his eyes stuck to a screen all day and the little kid came up with an idea I at first was so happy about.
Oh! That happiness lasted all 5 seconds until he finished his amazing ideaā¦
š„²Here is the thing as a content creator myself I know the whole process you go through creating content, promoting said content and trying to build an audience, and when he is only 4 years old and even tho he is a smart kid the whole work of creating his content will be my job too and well I donāt want more unpaid jobs cause I have many and what I want is a paying job!!! (I'm looking btw if you want to hire me as a virtual assistant let me know!)
I'm not against him becoming a youtuber, I'm against all the jobs that will mean for me LOL.
His first video
So, I was doing another post when he came up with the idea and I told him and his dad to do the whole experiment and to record it so, that I could edit it and publish it.
As a recommendation do not let your partner do the work that you already know they donāt want to do or are eager to do since they will not do a good job š, is been 10 years with this man and some days I swear I donāt know how he is still alive.
They pick up an easy-to-do experiment involving water that my kid loves to play with and a piece of paper to make magic,
The Refraction experiment.
Is super easy you draw an arrow on a piece of paper and when you put that paper behind a glass of water you can see the water makes it point to the opposite side of what is drawn to point in reality.
Recording the video
So, the kid wants to be a youtuber but he doesnāt want to actually record himself, like he does want to but he doesnāt like to, he is shy and feels embarrassed to do it LOL.
We were almost a whole hour trying to record what ended up being a 1-minute video š¤£ it was so funny! He obviously didnāt know what to say, he didnāt know what to do it was all a big mess, he is a big fan of a famous Mexican youtuber (a kid) whose channel is called Diki Duki Dariel and who has a well-known opening line and my kid wanted to open up his video with that so, I had to explain to him about copyright and plagiarism to a 4-year-old š« . He ended up doing several and the best one was the one that showed our closet and the mess inside in the video LOL.
Editing the video
I used Clipchamp the new editor for Microsoft which is free but I have premium since I'm paying for the Microsoft 365 subscription, is easy to use, and for this basic editing was exactly what I needed.
The video originally is 15 minutes long but most of it, is my kid not knowing what to say LOL so, I cut it to the useful parts we ended up with only 1 minute lol, but hey is his first try and he was so excited at the end!
DO NOT JUDGE my editing skills I didnāt put much effort into this cause is not a long video or is even well recorded soā¦. Is basic.
The Video
Creating the channel
My kid is 4 and has his own google account but youtube doesnāt allow kids under 13 to create their own channels to upload content. So, I had to create a new channel in my own account.

He picked the name himself; he wants his channel to be all about experiments and I love that, he had the whole idea in his head and only needed a bit of guidance so I'm proud all the youtube time is making him create stuff.
Only a 1 min video?
Well, he is 4 and after all the recording he got bored and wanted to play with his cars and his dad soā¦. He hasnāt recorded anymore, also he broke my tripod -.- and we need to find a new way to film him, may I add we fired his cameraman cause he sucked big time? š¤£ that actually means I need to film him myself =(
As of now, this video is not actually public on youtube, I donāt know if it will ever be because it's really low quality and not produce enough to be worth it to go public, but I had to put it on youtube, and share it with his cousins so that he knew he actually has a video on youtube now and it has an intro and all.
Why not 3speak?
I will probably upload the next if he makes one to 3speak first but this one was so short and he knows the youtube branding so it was not like I could fool him and not do it on youtube.
I have to say I do like the control I have over the comments on youtube unlike on 3speak for now, so that is something to think about when making content for kids to actually handle their own accounts.
Youtube allows me to mark the content youtube kids Safe and because of that, it won't allow comments or any sort of closing card with links at the end of the video to show.
I thought about teaching him to do shorts but he likes the long format of the youtubers he follows and he doesnāt have access to other social media so he doesnāt really know that format and I donāt know if he will be down for that.
Tips and suggestions
From me as a youtuber on the making, let your kid try out their ideas and make their own projects, it doesnāt have to be a whole production just let them have fun, and just make sure to control and oversee the publishing of the content, google and therefor youtube actually has a lot of tools to protect your kids so use them, this is the new world is what they are growing up into so, is not like we can keep them away from it, is better if they enter it holding our hands helping them along the way.

p.s. yes, I want my kid to be a millionaire from youtube so wish me luck! HAHAHAHAHA.
